What does a cat groomer do?
A cat groomer takes care of your cat's coat, nails and sensitive areas. Cat grooming includes gentle brushing, washing with cat-safe shampoo, blow-drying and combing. If requested, we can clip the coat, for example into a lion cut or a sanitary cut. With a lion cut, the body is clipped short while the head, paws and tip of the tail are left longer. The sanitary cut is a hygiene trim where we shorten the fur around the intimate area.
We also trim nails, clean the paws and care for the eyes and the inside of the ears. We wash with pH-neutral, cat-safe shampoo and dry the coat gently. Our natural products come from LT and Ecopets, and we clip using Aesculap tools. However, a cat groomer doesn't replace a vet clinic, as we care for the coat and don't treat illnesses.
Which cats need a cat groomer?
Many shorthair cats keep their coats in good condition without any help. But some cats can't manage it alone, and we see these four groups particularly often.
- Longhair cats: Persians, Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and British Longhairs have a lot of undercoat. The undercoat is the soft, dense layer of hair beneath the longer topcoat where knots quickly form.
- Cats that no longer groom themselves: Some cats, for example as they get older, can't reach every spot anymore. The fur then gets matted on their back, hind legs or in the hygiene area.
- Cats with matted coats: Matted patches pull on the skin with every movement and are almost impossible to remove at home.
- Shorthair cats shedding their coat: Even short fur sheds heavily in spring. Thorough brushing or a spring cut removes the loose hair before it spreads all over your home.

The duration is the time we schedule for your cat's booking. The price can vary depending on your cat's coat condition and behaviour. That's why we check the coat beforehand and give you the final, binding price before the appointment. You pay on collection with cash, debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Brushing only is perfect for cats with a healthy coat that shed a lot of hair. Clipping without water is ideal for cats who find a bath too stressful. You choose the Cat Full Groom if the coat needs washing and either brushing or trimming. Trimming here means we carefully shorten excess fur. Prepare your cat and their carrier well
Many cats associate the carrier with stress, which is why preparation starts a few days before the appointment. These tips will make the trip to the salon easier for both you and your cat.
- Set the carrier up early: Leave the carrier open in your home a few days beforehand so it becomes a normal place for them.
- Familiar scent: Put a blanket or towel inside that smells like your home.
- Secure carrier: Use a sturdy carrier that can be securely closed.
- Cover the carrier: A light cloth over the carrier dampens light and noise in the car or on the train.
- Light meal: Don't feed your cat a large portion right before the appointment.

There is no set schedule for cats like there is for poodles or doodles. Their needs depend heavily on coat type, age and grooming at home. You should comb long-haired cats daily, while once a week is usually enough for short-haired cats. Many cats only need the salon as required, meaning when their coat needs extra help.
Typical reasons include the spring shedding season, the first knots behind the ears or a sticky hygiene area. The more regularly you comb at home, the less often a clip is needed. We are groomers and take care of coats, nails and hygiene areas. Medical issues belong in a veterinary practice, and we will tell you that openly. Take your cat to the vet first if you notice any of these signs.

- bald patches or sudden, heavy hair loss
- pain when touched, limping or noticeable withdrawal
- discharge from the eyes or ears
- a cat that suddenly stops grooming itself overnight
