Cat groomer Berlin: Prices, packages and process for cats

A cat groomer brushes, washes, blow-dries and clips cats whose coats need more care than they can manage themselves. Here at GroomRoom in Berlin-Charlottenburg, cat grooming starts from 99 € for the Brush Only package taking 60 minutes. The Waterless Clip also takes 60 minutes, and the Full Cat Groom with Bath takes 90 minutes. Every cat gets their own quiet time slot with no dogs in the salon. We will give you the binding final price before the appointment, and you pay on collection.

What does a cat groomer do?

A cat groomer takes care of the coat, nails and sensitive areas, but does not treat illnesses. This work is called cat grooming. It includes gentle brushing, detangling loose hair, washing with cat-safe shampoo, as well as careful blow-drying and combing. If requested, we can clip the coat with clippers. With a lion cut, the body is clipped short, while the head, paws and tip of the tail are left longer. The sanitary cut is a hygiene trim where only the fur around the intimate area is shortened.

How much does a cat groomer in Berlin cost?

Cat grooming starts at 99 €, and all prices include VAT as of September 2026. You'll find three packages for cats in our online booking, and nail clipping is included in every one.

The duration is the time we reserve for your cat when you book. The price may vary depending on coat condition and behaviour, as heavily matted fur takes more time. That's why we check the coat and skin first before giving you a binding final price. You pay on collection using cash, debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Brush Only is perfect for cats with a healthy coat that shed a lot. A clip without a bath is ideal for cats who find water too stressful. Choose the full package if you want the coat washed and then brushed or trimmed. Trimming here means we carefully shorten any excess fur.

Which cats need a cat groomer?

Healthy shorthair cats usually keep their coats in good condition themselves, but four groups need help more often. The animal welfare charity PDSA recommends daily brushing for longhair breeds like Persians, Birmans or Ragdolls, noting the armpits, legs, tummy and tail as typical areas for matting.

• Longhair cats: Persians, Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and British Longhairs have a lot of undercoat. The undercoat is the soft, dense layer of hair beneath the longer topcoat, where knots can quickly form.
• Cats that no longer groom themselves thoroughly: Older cats often can't reach certain spots anymore. The Cornell Feline Health Center notes that gentle brushing helps remove loose hair and stimulates blood flow to the skin.
• Cats with matting: Matted fur pulls on the skin with every movement. The PDSA strongly advises against trying to remove matting yourself at home.
• Shorthair cats shedding: They lose significantly more hair in spring and autumn. Thorough brushing removes loose hair before it ends up all over your home.

How your cat's appointment works

We follow six set steps during the appointment so your cat experiences as few new things at once as possible.

1. Dedicated time slot: Your cat visits us during a time when there are no dogs in the salon.
2. Checking coat and skin: We check the coat, skin and nails and give you a fixed price.
3. Gentle brushing: First, we brush carefully and remove loose hair section by section.
4. Washing and drying: In the Full Groom, this is followed by a bath, gentle blow-drying and combing.
5. Nails and finishing touches: Next we do the nails, paws, eyes and the inside of the ears.
6. Pick-up: We'll let you know as soon as your cat is ready, and you pay directly at the salon.

We take breaks if your cat gets restless, and we don't overbook appointments. Forceful restraint is not part of our approach: The professional organisation AAHA describes heavy restraint and scruffing as handling with an increased risk of injury. How do I prepare my cat and the carrier?

Leave the carrier open in your home for a few days before the appointment so it becomes a normal place. These points make the trip to the salon easier.

• Familiar scent: Put a blanket or towel inside that smells like your home.
• Sturdy carrier: Use a carrier that closes securely and doesn't wobble.
• Cover the carrier: A light cloth over the carrier dampens light and noise in the car or on the train.
• Light meal: Don't feed a large portion right before the appointment.
• Leave mats alone: Don't try to vigorously brush out matted areas beforehand, as this pulls on the skin.
• Provide information: Tell us in advance if your cat is anxious, has skin problems or sensitive areas.

When it comes to matting, the same logic applies to cats as to dogs. We untangle knots section by section, and we prefer to clip heavily matted fur rather than pulling on it for a long time. How often should a cat visit the cat groomer?

There is no fixed schedule for cats like there is for poodles every 6 to 8 weeks. The need depends on the coat type, age and home grooming. The PDSA recommends daily combing for long-haired cats and several times a week for short- and medium-haired cats. The frequency can increase with age, as some cats miss hard-to-reach spots.

Typical reasons for a salon appointment are shedding, the first knots behind the ears or a sticky hygiene area. The more regularly you comb at home, the less often clipping is needed. For long-haired cats that don't like being brushed, regular appointments every 8 to 12 weeks can be useful. We will determine the right interval for your cat together at the first appointment.

When is the vet practice the right place to go?

If your cat is in pain, bleeding, has broken skin, severe itching or noticeable hair loss, they should visit a vet practice first. We look after the coat, nails and hygiene areas, and we don't make diagnoses. These signs need to be checked before a grooming appointment makes sense.

• open wounds, scabs or severely reddened skin under the coat
• bald patches or sudden increased hair loss
• reacting with pain when touched, limping or noticeable withdrawal
• discharge from the eyes or ears, a bad smell or scratching at the ears
• a cat that suddenly stops grooming itself overnight

The PDSA points out that changes to the skin and coat can indicate a health problem. If the skin is fine, we'll take care of the grooming afterwards. If you're unsure, message us beforehand on WhatsApp with a photo of the area.

Our salon is located at Giesebrechtstraße 2, 10629 Berlin in Charlottenburg, between Kurfürstendamm and Wilmersdorfer Straße. From the Adenauerplatz underground station on the U7, it's a 5-minute walk, and from Kurfürstendamm on the U1 and U9 it's about 10 minutes.
