From Mitte, Tiergarten, Moabit or Wedding: your route

The Mitte district stretches from Alexanderplatz to Wedding, so journey times vary significantly. The table provides rough estimates, excluding traffic and waiting times when changing.

DistrictTrain and busCar
MitteU2 to Bismarckstraße, U7 to Adenauerplatz, or S-Bahn to Savignyplatz: 30 to 35 minutes25 to 30 minutes
TiergartenBus to Zoologischer Garten, U9 one stop to Kurfürstendamm: 20 to 25 minutesabout 15 minutes
MoabitU9 from Turmstraße to Kurfürstendamm, then a 10-minute walk: about 20 minutes15 to 20 minutes
Wedding and GesundbrunnenU9 from Leopoldplatz or Osloer Straße direct to Kurfürstendammdepending on your starting point

The U2 stops at Alexanderplatz, Stadtmitte and Potsdamer Platz, among others. The S-Bahn runs via Hackescher Markt, Friedrichstraße and Hauptbahnhof to Savignyplatz. From there, it's about a 12-minute walk to Giesebrechtstraße. If you're driving, you can park on Giesebrechtstraße, or try Brandenburgische Straße if it's busy.

Pavements, parks and lots of stairs: grooming for city dogs

Dogs in Mitte spend much of their time walking on pavements and tarmac. Großer Tiergarten, Monbijoupark or Volkspark Humboldthain are great for green breaks. Nails wear down unevenly on hard surfaces, and some can still get too long. Overgrown nails change how your dog holds their paw and click audibly on the floor.

Long hair between the pads picks up city dirt, chewing gum and winter road salt. Keeping paw hair short makes it much quicker to clean up after a walk. Breeds with continuously growing coats like Maltese, Yorkshire Terriers or Shih Tzus also need a haircut every six to eight weeks. We explain how to protect paws during the colder months in our article dog grooming in winter.

Heading back to the city centre with your freshly groomed dog

A Full Groom takes 90 to 180 minutes, so travelling back to Mitte during that time is hardly worth it. You'll find cafes, shops and restaurants around Kurfürstendamm and Wilmersdorfer Straße. We'll let you know as soon as your dog is ready.

Tip

On your way back, take the U7 from Adenauerplatz and change to the U2 at Bismarckstraße. With a clean blanket in your bag, your freshly blow-dried dog will have their own spot on the train.

The U2 and S-Bahn are often busy during rush hour, so it's best to pick up your dog before then. You can find all our contact details and a map on our contact page.
