The Mini Groom from 59 € includes washing, drying, combing, light thinning as well as nails, eyes, paws and the sanitary area. The Full Groom from 79 € additionally includes a breed-standard cut or clip and ear cleaning. For coats that grow continuously, like Poodles, Doodles or Shih Tzus, the Full Groom is usually the right choice. For short hair or dogs with an undercoat that aren't clipped, the Mini Groom is often enough.

Here at GroomRoom in Charlottenburg, the Mini Groom starts at 59 € and the Full Groom at 79 €, appointments are available Tuesday to Saturday. The difference is in the cut: the Full Groom includes a breed-standard cut or clip, while the Mini Groom only includes light thinning. If your dog's coat grows continuously, you'll usually need the Full Groom. If they have short hair or a coat that isn't cut, the Mini Groom is often enough.
What is the difference between a Mini Groom and a Full Groom?
The main difference is the cut, because only the Full Groom includes a breed-standard cut or clip. The Mini Groom is a thorough wash and groom where the length of the coat mostly stays the same. We do some light thinning, which means we gently thin out the coat with scissors in specific areas. During the Full Groom, we also clean the ears, which isn't included in the Mini Groom. Both packages include washing, drying, and combing, as well as nail, eye, paw, and hygiene care. The table shows you the services side by side.

For shampoo and conditioning, we use pH-neutral natural products from LT and Ecopets in both packages. We choose the products based on your dog's coat type and skin condition. We remove light tangles in both packages at no extra cost.
Which coat needs a Full Groom?
A Full Groom is mainly needed for coats that grow continuously, like those of Poodles, Doodles, Bichons, Malteses, Yorkshires or Shih Tzus. For these breeds, we recommend an appointment every 6 to 8 weeks. Without a regular cut, the coat gets long and mats more easily. We only offer clipping for breeds whose coats allow it. These include, for example, Poodles, Doodles, Bichons, Malteses and Yorkshires.
For large dogs, the Full Groom starts at 209 €, because it takes significantly more time. You don't have to lift large dogs for this. We lower the height-adjustable grooming table, your dog steps on, and we raise it to working height.
When is a Mini Groom enough?
A Mini Groom is enough if your dog needs a wash and a tidy up, but doesn't need a new haircut. If you just want to have your dog washed, you can book a Mini Groom with us. For short-haired dogs, we recommend a salon appointment every 8 to 12 weeks. A thorough bath and brush can also be a good idea between two haircuts. We'll check if this is right for your dog during the assessment before the appointment.
Which package is right for Pomeranians, Spitzes and dogs with an undercoat?
We never clip breeds with an undercoat, meaning those with a dense, soft coat under the longer topcoat. These include Spitzes, Pomeranians, Huskies and Golden Retrievers. For these dogs, we demat by hand and work through the coat thoroughly. For Pomeranians, there is a surcharge of 20 € for the Mini Groom (already included in the Spitz/Pom Full Groom package). Neither of the two packages is quite right for Terriers, Schnauzers, Dachshunds and other wire-haired dogs. They need hand stripping, where dead hair is plucked out, for 70 € per hour. We always schedule 2 hours for this, and charge proportionally for a shorter duration.

How long do the two appointments take?
According to the booking catalogue, both appointments take 60 to 180 minutes, depending on the size and coat of your dog. For a Full Groom, the time depends mainly on the weight. We schedule around 60 minutes for up to 2 kg, 120 minutes for up to 15 kg, and 150 minutes for up to 18 kg. Larger dogs need 180 minutes for a Full Groom. We take breaks as soon as your dog needs them, and we don't overbook appointments.
What does the chosen package actually cost in the end?
The final price depends on the condition of the coat and your dog's behaviour, and is fixed before the appointment. The starting prices on our pricing page apply to a well-maintained coat. We only add surcharges if they genuinely apply:
- Dematting for heavily matted coats: 15 € per started 15 minutes
- Pomeranian surcharge: 20 € for a Mini Groom (already included in the Spitz/Pom Full Groom package)
- Very anxious or defensive dogs: by arrangement, requiring more time and a second person
For very severe matting, we often recommend a short clip down, as it's gentler on the dog and more affordable. This only applies to breeds whose coats can be clipped. You can pay on collection with cash, debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
How to decide in four steps
- Check if your dog's coat grows continuously. This is the case for Poodles, Doodles, Bichons, Malteses, Yorkies or Shih Tzus.
- If the coat grows and needs to be shorter or shaped, book a Full Groom from 79 €.
- If your dog has short hair or an undercoat and just needs a bath and brush, book a Mini Groom from 59 €.
- If they have a wiry terrier coat, choose hand stripping for 70 € per hour.
