• Honest advice. Reputable dog groomers will advise you on coat care between appointments and won't push you into unnecessary services.

What services does a dog groomer in Berlin offer?

A dog groomer washes, dries, brushes and cuts the coat, and takes care of the nails, eyes, ears and paws. GroomRoom in Charlottenburg covers the full spectrum of dog grooming for small and large breeds, both long and short-haired. All prices are starting prices including VAT; we will give you the final, binding price before the appointment after a personal assessment.

• Full Groom from 79 €: Bathing, blow-drying, brushing, breed-standard cut or clip, nails, eyes, paws, ears and sanitary area. We de-mat matted coats if necessary for a surcharge, followed by styling.
• Mini Groom from 59 €: Washing, drying, combing and brushing without a full cut, plus light thinning of specific coat areas with thinning scissors. Nails, eyes, paws and the hygiene area are also included in this package.
• Hand-stripping from 70 €: During hand-stripping, we pluck out dead topcoat hairs with our fingers so the wire coat grows back strong and colourful. This package is for terriers, schnauzers, dachshunds and other wire-haired breeds.
• Cat Grooming from 99 €: gentle full grooming, clipping without water or just brushing, all specially tailored to cats.
• Individual Services from 15 €: You can book nails, paws, eyes and ears individually or as a 4-in-1 combo package from 45 €.
• Junior Grooming at a fixed price: Our Junior Groomer grooms small dogs under supervision for 60 € up to 5 kg and 75 € up to 10 kg.

We only charge extra fees when they apply: dematting from 15 € per started 15 minutes and a 20 € Pomeranian surcharge for the thick double coat. A double coat means that a dense, soft undercoat grows beneath the topcoat, which requires a lot of brushing time. Very anxious or defensive dogs need more time and sometimes a second person; we will discuss the price for this with you beforehand.

How an appointment at GroomRoom works

An appointment at GroomRoom always follows the same process so your dog knows what to expect. You can find the individual steps and preparation tips on the Process and Preparation page.

1. Arrival and assessment. We check the coat, skin, nails and ears, and discuss the haircut you'd like. Then we give you the fixed final price, and only then does the actual work begin.
2. Brushing and preparation. We brush out loose undercoat, the soft hair beneath the topcoat, and untangle small knots.
3. Bathing in the Hydra tub. Your dog is washed in the Hydra tub using pH-neutral natural products and rinsed thoroughly.
4. Drying and blow-drying. We gently blow-dry the coat and take breaks whenever your dog needs them.
5. Haircut or clipping. Depending on the breed and your preference, we use scissors, clippers or hand-stripping.
6. Finishing touches. Nails, paws, eyes, ears and the sanitary area are done last, followed by a final check of the shape.
7. Collection and payment. You pay on collection in cash, by debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. We don't ask for upfront payments, and we don't offer payment in instalments for any of our services.

Which breeds and coat types do we work with?

From Chihuahuas to Standard Poodles: our team is ready for all coat types. We are especially popular for Poodles, Doodles, Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Spitz and Pomeranians. Large breeds like Samoyeds or Australian Shepherds are also in the best hands with our Senior Groomers.

• Growing coats on Poodles, Doodles, Bichons, Maltese, Yorkshires and Shih Tzus keep getting longer without a trim and mat quickly. These dogs need a regular Full Groom with a breed-specific haircut or clip.
• Double coats on Pomeranians, Spitzes and Samoyeds consist of a topcoat and a dense undercoat, which we brush out instead of clipping.
• Wire coats on Terriers, Schnauzers and Dachshunds are maintained by hand-stripping to preserve the coat's texture.
• Short double coats, meaning short, dense fur with an undercoat like on an Australian Shepherd, mainly need a bath, blow-dry and a thorough brush-out.
• Short coats rarely need a cut, but they do need a bath, nail clipping and ear cleaning as part of a Mini Groom.
• Cats are groomed separately and calmly, using clippers without water if a bath would cause too much stress.

Products and tools: what we work with

We wash with pH-neutral natural products from LT and Ecopets, which are specially formulated for dog skin. Cutting and clipping are done with tools from Aesculap, a manufacturer of scissors and clippers. Baths take place in the Hydra tub, where even large dogs can stand safely and comfortably. Fresh towels for every dog and a clean workspace are an essential part of our hygiene standards.

Between appointments, we recommend using a brush and comb suited to your dog's coat. We'll happily show you which ones to use when you pick them up, so you can keep up the grooming at home.

How often should your dog visit the dog groomer?

The right schedule depends on the coat type, ranging from six to twelve weeks.

• Breeds with continuously growing coats like Poodles, Doodles, Bichons, Maltese, Yorkshires and Shih Tzus come in every 6 to 8 weeks.
• Short-haired dogs do well with an appointment every 8 to 12 weeks.
• You brush Pomeranians and Spitz dogs at home several times a week and bring them to us every 6 to 10 weeks.
• Hand-stripping for terriers, schnauzers and dachshunds is needed every 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the breed.
• Puppies can come for their first introductory appointment after their second vaccination, helping them get used to the salon without any pressure.
